It's weird because I read something like this and I don't want to be too depressed by it... yet it's a story I am so familiar with from folks I have known, personally, that I can sort of displace myself from it and then I do two things...

I place myself in her shoes, and TRY to imagine what it would be like.

I jump right out of those shoes because I simply CAN'T imagine what it would be like, sorta in a literal sense.

It's just a world, meaning her day-to-day grind, severe ups and downs as a MAJOR part of her reality, that I can't identify with...

it's too remote, yet I am very sympathetic. She needs help... desperately.
