View Full Version : Not in the immediate market for it, but inexpensive color laser printers?

I've been looking at the Dell C1760NW Wireless Color Laser Printer--have missed out on a slick deal for $50 for it, and just missed another one that had it for $75. Seems to be "good enough" color printing, based on the CNET type reviews, and the key factor is that they have good generic toner cartridges, cheap, for it, which is fairly unusual.

Here's an example of the generic toner:

Office Depot sells it for $200, but you can get it pretty much anytime for about $100. Here it is at Amazon (third party providers, though):

Best Buy has it "on sale" for $210. Claimed "regular" price is $280. Suuuuure.

Any other recommendations? If I understand this correctly, it's not "really" laser, but LED. I don't know the difference, but apparently it is still relatively fast, but uses reasonably priced toner, and the price point for the printer is a lot less than what they used to be.

My office is 2.5 miles from my house, in my neighborhood, and we have a large, heavy duty color true laser printer, so I don't "have" to have one. Just would be nice when the kids need a color print for something and it's 10pm not to have to get in the car and drive to the office to do it. Always sounds better in theory--"only 2 miles away"--but when you think about it, having to get out of the house, get in the car, drive there, unlock the office, get to the computer, boot it up if it isn't already, print, lock up the office, return, etc.--it's pretty much 45 minutes instead of 5. So at some point I'd like to get one around the house.
