This is somewhat embarrassing, but I'm going to tell it in the hopes someone benefits from my experience.
We had a Christmas party hosted by a firm downtown last week at a local bar. I had a couple of drinks, and then a couple more. Had too much to drink, and I knew it. So I left my car at the bar, and took a bus.
Headed home, I peered out the window, and there was a DUI checkpoint with police adminstering breathalyzers to the drivers. Naturally, they waived the bus through, and I couldn't help but think, "there, but for the Grace of God..." I arrived home safely, and without incident, which was a surprise, since I had never driven a bus before and have no idea where I got it.
