Dumb question, but what does Apple TV do?

Dumb question, but what does Apple TV do?

It is Apple's version of Chromecast + Android TV all in one box. It has a remote, can play games, stream media, run apps, etc.

We have a 3rd generation Apple TV and we like it, but I can't wait til we get the new one (got it as part of the DirecTV Now deal (http://www.kysportsreport.com/forums/showthread.php?35143-ESPN-Loses-Over-a-Half-Million-Subscribers&p=384281&viewfull=1#post384281) being offered). It's Siri-capable, has a remote with a trackpad, search across multiple sites (e.g., "Siri, show me John Wayne movies" and it shows you what's available on the apps/sites you're signed into on your Apple TV), ability to add apps, remote control capability via your iPhone/Apple Watch, etc.

It's not perfect by any means (it doesn't have 4K capability and it doesn't have an Amazon Prime app due to Amazon and Apple not (http://www.businessinsider.com/why-is-amazon-video-still-missing-from-the-apple-tv-2016-5) getting along (http://www.theverge.com/2016/5/31/11826362/amazon-acceptable-business-terms-apple-tv-chromecast), among other drawbacks), but it's a good box for those of us in the Apple ecosystem.

2nd dumb question -- what is Android TV?

I know what Chromecast and Roku are. I have both of those. After that, I'm pretty clueless. Even before that.

Android TV is like the Android version of Roku or Fire TV. It has a discrete interface, controlled by a remote, runs apps, etc.
