Please keep my mom and grandmother in your prayers. This afternoon, my grandmother (Joan Shuey, if you went to Tates Creek in the 70s and 80s you likely knew a member of the Shuey clan) finally passed away after four years of struggling with late stage dementia and MRSA infections related to diabetes. This is almost exactly a year after my mom lost her father to pneumonia. She is struggling hard having lost both parents within about a years time, so please keep her in your prayers that she get some solace in this difficult time.

Rest in Peace Grandma Shuey

With the support of the believers out there..

God, please comfort and bless our friend and his family in this time of trouble. In the name of your Son Jesus we ask it.

You got it, Pedro. I lost my mom and dad six months apart and it takes a while to get over it. Staying in touch with her frequently will help a lot until she adjusts.

On the way Pedro. Tough to lose people so close together, you feel like you're just being hit by a tidal wave of emotion.

Very difficult times Pedro. Prayers for your entire family. Distance from your family at times like these is tough. Be sure you stay in close touch with your Mom. It will allow her to refocus for periods of time as she grieves the loss.

When my Father passed away, I did not live close enough to Mom to visit often, but what I did do was call her every day at 5:00 PM. This continued for several years until she passed away. I knew the calls were important to her, as if I was 30 mins late on call, she would call me to make sure I was all right.

Thanks everyone! I have been keeping in contact with her, she is doing a bit better today. She said the good thing is that they knew this was coming. So most of my aunts and uncles were able to come and say their goodbyes.

Dementia and the related Alzheimers are something I would not wish even on my enemy.

And thanks again everyone!
