in Birmingham on MLK Day. Bernie Sanders held a rally at Boutwell Auditorium downtown, designated to open to those without heat or shelter when the temperature falls below 35 degrees, on the coldest night of the year. Temps dropped into the low 20's. It's nice to see ol' Bernie's socialist movement so concerned about the poorest among us. The poor boy is taking a beating today. City administration is pissed. The Sanders machine is in overdrive trying to contain damage.
Sanders insisted on using the auditorium because of its ties to the Civil Rights movement. Normally on a cold night about 300 people use the facility to keep warm. One of the Sanders supporters inside, passed out because of the heat inside the building. Sanders, after waiting til the paramedics removed the woman, quipped that that brought him to the subject of Healthcare.
