Exceptionally interesting.

Governments on the brink of anarchy, the cocaine producers, are happy b/c they think pot will help take down demand for hard drugs in the US, reducing the income and power of the cartels there.

Former Mexican drug policy guy thinks it will reduce demand for harder drugs and hurt the Mexican cartels.

The ruling elite of Mexico are vehemently against legalization, the reason given is that it means there isn't as much use to them trying to prevent smuggling of pot.

Ran this through my universal translator and it kicked back that the reason the elites in Mexico want US drug policy to remain intact is they are making billions on bribes from the cartels and their entire enforcement approach is just to keep demand high and profits up and prevent competition to the primary cartels by independents.

Everyone else is for it b/c it reduces US demand for illegal drugs, but Mexican leaders are sharply against it. Also very worried about the cartel's imports of US guns, when we know how many government weapons are findign their way to the cartels. Hmmm.....

I want to make sure I am straight on this, Michelle the belle Obama can force schools to change their menus to include 'healthy foods' that kids hate, but it is ok for a state to legalize a drug that will hurt everyones health that uses it, run up costs in the health industry to take care of them, possibly include more car accidents and deaths, and that is ok???? Where is the belle on this one, probably already planning a trip to Colorado for a skiing trip in the 'high country'

What a screwed up country.

This pertains to individual over 21 years of age so IMO it is their choice. Compared to school menus which is for juveniles (although it should be the parents that determine what the child eats, not the gov't). Additionally the fact that the gov't subsidizes the meals is the one excuse needed. Gov't ain't buying the pot but it is the lunches. Once the gov't starts paying for it suddenly they get say in what and how its done. Just keep this in mind over the next 4 years and how it pertains to the Affordable Health Care Act. When the gov't pays, they get the say!

Doc, it may be their choice but guess who pays for their health care, we do. And who pays for accidents, we do thru higher insurance premiums, hell we pay for everything on peoples 'choice' it seems.
So the state wanted it for the tax purpose but it will end up costing the state more in all the health care benefits they will have to provide and all else that goes with this.
