Puerto Rico (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/11/07/puerto-ricans-opt-for-statehood-in-referendum/)
In the future we will absorb this 3rd world nation into statehood. Perfect.
Good, I need some "domestic" Rum.

It's been this 50/50 split for decades. They're more divided than we are, if that's possible. lol. Don't see it happening b/c the margin is still very small. It will also dramatically increase the budget b/c of the big number of people in poverty there who will then receive benefits.
Personally I think we need to annex Switzerland and make a withdrawal.

It was close on the first part which is do we change it. The second part about voting for statehood was not close (around 61% voting for). I mean all things considered they are a territory.
Personally, I say welcome. Will it be easy, nope. That being said we are a diverse country so welcome to the party, HAHA!
The name of the 51st state?
The Welfare State.

Hate to see this. Puerto Rico gets a heck of a lot of money already and does a horrible, horrible job of using it and equally troubling--accounting for its use.
I say shove off and see if we can sell it to Cuba. The Pacific Rim territories have a great strategic importance so we have to keep them. PR is not a great place. I'd much rather visit the Bahamas.

Didn't Joe Biden proclaim that Hawaii was the 51st state?

Two comments from Puerto Ricans:
“We’re doing okay, but we could do better. We would receive more benefits, a lot more financial help.”
"I like to be in America, everything free in America..."
Anyone surprised?

Their unemployment rate is 15%, well below that of several counties in East Kentucky.

Sounds like the Obama electric. More looking to vote for Santa 365 days a year. I hope we have a say in whether they are allowed to come in or not.

I was stationed in Puerto Rico for awhile, we lived in a tent city while building a base camp. The beaches and water were awsome!! You had either dirt poor or rich is what I remember. We would go to San Juan on week ends and would list all the places where we were not allowed to go and go there, had a lot of fun. I remember UDT trained there, a really great group. Really one of the fun places I have been.

If Puerto Rico becomes a state wouldn't they then become a reciprocating state with their laws making Boob Knight wanted in all of the other 50 states.

I've changed my mind. I'm all for statehood now. :fam24:
