Same board member is asking me about basketball whiteboards now. I am not sure what his plans are (buying one for the gym, or buying individual ones for team, or just one for "his" team, I dunno.)

Anyway, if you have any insight about this (I'm cutting and pasting his email to me today), let me know. I gave him the basketball recommendations you guys provided on the other thread, and told them they were from my "basketball buddies in Kentucky," and that gave it instant credibility. On the Baden ball, he said if it's good enough for a coach in Kentucky in the basketball capitol, it's good enough for those of us in the football capitol.

Here's his email. I told him I'd look at them, but wanted to know if we were buying one, several, many, etc.

We are going to purchase a magnetic whiteboard with a basketball court. Do you have any insight/recommendations?

The rolling big one would be nice but we could put the 2'x3' one on an easel.

And this thing is pretty neat

I like magnetic boards in the classroom. We use a small plain easel type whiteboard in the locker room, clipboard style whiteboards on the court.

I did not understand the purpose for this, and now I do. During the summer, clinics are being done for kids to teach them the read and react offense. There may be 30 kids or so at a clinic, and that's why he wanted it larger, for everybody to see. I would think anything large enough to go on an easel would be big enough, wouldn't you?

Easel size is good for locker room use. The one we use is about 28" x 32" and is plenty big enough.

Talked them into the 30x42 dry erase magnetic print ($79.95) plus a generic rolling magnetic whiteboard for $150. Total price $229 and it gave portability as well as exactly what he wanted.

Also getting a smaller one just for team use. That's for clinic use. Budget is very limited, but that fit. Runs a summer long clinic teaching this offense and some fundamentals, has coaches all donate their time, and kids that can afford to pay kick in $100 for the summer. It's that money that's being used for the whiteboards, together with some gym-specific equipment for the floor, etc. Probably have a total budget of $1500-2000 if they get a good turnout and reasonable voluntary payments, but the other equipment is about $700.

Fortunately, the budget for basketballs comes out of another pot. But it's always something.

Appreciate your advice on both the whiteboards and the basketballs, which was very helpful.
