Threat of ice.

Projected to be 39 at noon here tomorrow (colder in other places in Birmingham area early tomorrow morning), but possible freezing rain starting around 3.

We just don't take any chances.

It was 63 here in Louisville yesterday, which was cool. But they closed schools today on the threat of sleet starting in the afternoon. It didn't start sleeting until about 4, so the kids were out for rain.

OTOH, it started snowing around 5:30 and I measured 6 inches of snow on my back porch in Jtown at 11:30, with more to come tonight. We're going to end up with about 10-12 inches here in Louisville, more to our south along the parkways. I hear Lexington's going to get crushed, too.

It can go ahead and be spring now. :sAng_banghead2:

I'm in the center, of the center, of this storm. Eight or nine inches at this point.

Cant measure much more since I have no yardstick or tape measure.
I've been laying on my stomach and thinking of Spring to get a reading.

Stay safe, kingcat. The wet snow hopefully won't knock out power down there.

just checked again and believe it or not we have 12 inches which means we got about 3 1/2 in the last hour and fifteen minutes. Visibility is maybe a hundred feet right now...a real blizzard. Much more so than two weeks ago.

WOW

7 inches of snow fell over night. 4 inches less than we got in the last dusting.

It was 61 degrees at 6:00 am yesterday morning and the temperature fell throughout the day.

Enjoy your snow & cold temperatures!
Meanwhile, here in sunny south Florida where I reside, the current temperature is 77* and sunny, with a slight SE breeze. The high temperature is expected to be about 88* today, and tonight's low is forecast to be 64* with clear skies.

That is all!

20 inches here at my place.

Looking for a front loader and a transport chopper...what's your address again Suncat? :)

Revised: Nearly 22 inches here.

We ended up with 13 inches here in Jtown. I'm seeing the reports of 20-24 inches down in Hardin County and going :confused0053:

I-65 S between Lebanon Junction (MM 105) and Etown (MM 94) is a parking lot. Hundreds of vehicles have been stranded there all night. National Guard and other emergency vehicles trying to assist stranded drivers.

Hey, my 71 degrees was at 9:30 p.m. last night on return home from basketball practice. At 9:30 a.m., it was 30. Crazy.

A little sleet here or there in my neck of the woods, but nothing bad. North of I-20/59 (Birmingham interstate) is bad, but most of us are fine.

I feel for my brethren stuck in the areas that are shut down. Of course, our entire school systems are shut down out of an abundance of caution, doctor's offices have closed, etc. I suspect we'll be on a delay in the morning as well, with moisture plus temp in the high teens, low 20's early.

had a friend text me that he had 21", he lives between Etown and Louisville.

17.1 I think is the official count at Bluegrass Airport. Looks about right.

That's a crazy amount. kentuckians stop counting at 9 or 10, after that it's just "closed" as Kingcat said. Interestingly Maxwell St. looks pretty open here, but the side roads have snow up to the axles on the cars.

22.5 inches here in Radcliff officially.

Is that a heated driveway, or did you shovel that thing off?

Man, it is times like this that I really appreciate living here. While I may not have the 80 degrees and sunny stuff, that double digit snow stuff comes around every two or three decades here.

Shoveled it by hand.
It took quite a while, I would work for about thirty minutes and then come in and rest as long as it took.
Not bad work for an old, fat, stroke survivor who is currently down a wheel (diabetic ulcers of the foot).:party0035:
Young man right across from our house just shook his head, said I was like the energizer bunny, I said I was more of a mule, just kept plugging at it and never got in a hurry like a rabbit.
Grammy said it was more like a jackass.
Gonna have to pile some snow behind her car...

Helluva job! I did our driveway this morning, but not as clear as you did; that snow was heavy!

Gee...I feel like a lazy bum Pappy. I shoveled a narrow path from my front door to the car..and left it looking like it has a white high top fade.

Shovel it? is that what you do?

Darrell KSR

Pappy, be careful. Our good buddy, Keith Taylor, just tweeted...

@keithtaylor21: Received word earlier tonight that my second cousin died while shoveling snow today. Everyone be safe out there.

Uh pappy, I agree with your wife. I enjoy what you write so quit the shoveling that hard

Like I said, it took pretty much all day and I would work for thirty minutes and then rest as long as it took to warm up and then give it another go.
Breaks were long enough to drink a cup of Kripsy Kreme Coffee.
But, as you can tell from the time stamp, I am up to get some ibuprofen for the old back and then back to bed...

I hope that this is the last snow of this very bad winter that you guys so far north of me have to deal with. I have been watching the news all winter, and this has been a particularly harsh winter for my BBN family in your part of the central mid-east U.S., and the entire continental U.S. as a whole.

Big Blue Pappy..........please take it easy. We don't want to lose you! Nor anyone else in our little family here, either! So please.........ALL OF YOU GUYS OUTSIDE OF FLORIDA, please use due caution in dealing with all of this crummy weather!
