I can't remember the last time I watched an SOTU speech, from a President of either party. All it's become is an attempt for the President to set his agenda for the year. Very few things less important. I'd rather watch "Say Yes To The Dress" than the SOTU.

That is a good thought. Unless we had a POTUS that actually had something intelligent & meaningful to address the nation with, and then I would like to see the POTUS deliver that speech. But you're right, it pretty much is an archaic event, probably only still done for the tradition it exhibits.

I'm looking forward to someone else giving the SOTU address. This appears to be a repeat of his first five where he proposes higher taxes, more shafting of the middle class by not lowering our world's highest corporate taxes and promising undeliverable freebies to people who don't know any better.

On a personal note, I can't say I was surprised that it would focus on domestic issues to take focus off what has been one of the biggest ongoing foreign policy debacles in American history.
