ELIMINATION GAME 2.0 (2014) edition

Elimination (or Survival) game: Each week you pick ONE SEC team to win. Its that simple. There are no points, no spreads. Just pick the winner. HOWEVER in the following weeks you can not re-use a team. So if you pick FL to win in week 1 then you can not use FL in week 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 etc. If you pick Alabama in week 2 you can not use FL or Bama in weeks 3 or 4 or 5 or 6. Note that you are not required to pick intraconference games so you can pick UK to beat Western, but you can't pick Western to beat UK as your pick must be an SEC school. If the team you pick loses then you get a strike. THREE strikes and you are out of the game. This game requires you to play from week one (and if you miss a week you get an automatic strike) or take a strike. The last person standing wins. As we get later in the year I might modify the game a bit to get to a single overall winner but fear not, after about 5 weeks it gets hard and by week 10 I don't expect too many to be surviving. We may do a redux midway thru the year if we get lots of folks flunking out early.

Nope. Will see as we get near the end. Might have do like we did last year for the bowls where all teams playing are used only listed from most likely to least likely. The first team on your list to lose is where you are knocked out. Lots of options to keep the game interesting. I like throwing monkey wrenches in there every now and then to keep people on their toes.

PS: any suggestions folks want to make to shake things up, I'm always open to them. These game evolve thru suggestions and modifications. Some work, some don't. Example would be the TFP / DS in BTO. I like it. It was a thing we tried that we liked. Other things haven't. If they work we keep them, if they don't we chunk them.

I sort of like the replay kink. Adds another layer of strategy in there. Have to put in there as a permanent thing in years to come. Sort of makes you want to use a powerhouse team early so you can use them twice. I hate that I have to burn my replay so soon but it is what it is.

So we have SEVEN - way tie breaker which will go to a bowl play off. I'll post the rules once the bowl match ups come out but it will be like last year. I feared this would happen, a massive tie breaker when we went to three strikes but it is what it is. I'll have to have a tie breaker in the tie breaker.

Next year perhaps limit choices to SEC vs SEC games only so that we cannot take advantage of some of the cupcake teams. That might be an issue the first week of the year when I think all SEC teams play out of conference opponents, but there may be a way around that (practice week, a replay option, just start a week later, etc.)

Might be a good idea Flounder. Would certainly punt a lot of the gimmie weeks. However I think it might really limit your early picks (week 1 had TWO SEC vs SEC games, week 2 had ONE SEC vs SEC game, week 3 had TWO SEC vs SEC games, week 4 had 3 SEC vs SEC games)

I really liked the replay week too. Was a cool tweak IMO.

No- you have to pick the SEC TEAM to win. Place them in order of most likely to least likely to win. As the highest ranked team in your list loses you get a strike until you have three stikes (added to however many you had during the season). I'm posting from my I phone and text not in color so can't see how many strikes you have from reg season but if you had one then once you get to two bowl losses you are out

Edit: now I can see. You have ONE stike coming in. List the SEC team you think is MOST likely is to win. The put the next most likely two win next, etc. Note, when the game is play does not matter. Once ALL the bowls are done, I will grade. If your first pick wins you make it to round two, if your second pick wins you make it to round three, etc... when a SEC team loses in a round that you have picked, you get a strike. If the SEC goes 12-0 then we are all going to be co - champions.
