We might escape with one day a bit below zero, but right now in West Dakota, Montana, temps are -50 and lower with wind chill. Those temps are like Everest; out there you are slowly dying. I've worked in -50, and anything exposed gets frost bitten and the blood starts pulling back from feet and hands in minutes. Can't imagine workin cold steel out in the Bakken tonight.

Gonna hit minues here monday, but not nearly that much. -6 or so I think is the current guesstimate.

It's currently 44 degrees here in LA (Louisville area) and the temperatures probably won't start dropping until after sundown, supposed to have a high of 0 tomorrow with lows around -2. Maybe 2-3 inches of snow just to remind us it's really cold outside.

Yesterday it was significantly chillier around the UL campus than the rest of the Louisville area.

I thought maybe the cold would stop at the river...

55 right now. Nice.

The 8 degree is actually Monday night/Tuesday morning. Tomorrow morning it will drop below 20, though.

Still in the 40s here in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Louisville, which means we missed out on another big snow (of course). Temps are now expected to drop around the time most of the precip has left the area.

Supposed to be between 0 and 5 tomorrow morning with wind chills -20 or lower. Most, if not all, schools around here are preemptively cancelled tomorrow.

40s in Lexvegas as well. Saying less than an inch of snow, the holdover precip once it gets cold in a few hours. The real problem will be the rain freezing into ice in places IMO. Well that and it being so cold we'll have to watch out for polar bear attacks.

The snow shovel I bought back in November seems to be still doing the trick

Over here on the sunny side we've dropped to 35 and the wind has started howling in the trees a bit

24 degrees at my house with 18 mph winds and gusts to 33. It is snowing sideways.

I am in a quandary. They do not take kindly to heavy arms in Ohio, but I do not favor being eaten by a white bear either. As I skate my way north in the morning, do you have any advice?

TIA

Blueboss...your snow shovel voodoo has worked pretty well this year so far, but your gonna have to come up with something for this cold!! I'm gonna freeze my fat a$$ off tomorrow night at the Big Brown Plane Facility!! I'm too old for this....

yesterday it was a bone chilling 77 degrees when I left work. And it was raining :tongue08:

Fear not though, you can make fun of me next summer during hurricane season.

Currently -1 here in Louisville. Yesterday's high was 56. So even though it feels like 103 degrees difference from yesterday, it's only 57.

Darrell KSR
01-06-2014, 09:24 AM
That's 103 degrees difference at the same time.

57 is crazy in a day in the same location, but 103 from north to south? Wow.

Yeah, I saw that. It'll take awhile for it to work south, I guess. Saw that Pensacola's going to have a "high" of 39 today, and Orlando's dropping throughout the day and this evening to a low of 32 tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile, trying to get in a warmer frame of mind by playing some warm weather music on my iPhone this morning:

--"Sun King," The Beatles
--"Hot Fun In The Summertime," Sly & The Family Stone
--"Kokomo," The Beach Boys
--"Volcano," Jimmy Buffett

Etc.

Not sure how to handle that one, perhaps if I were to start a ski park and sled run type amusement center where I could make snow but it would require the temperatures to remain low in order not to melt the snow and ice on the runs. Just so you know we're going to have a 50+ degree temperature swing by Thursday/Friday.

Currently 79* & partly cloudy in SW Florida on the shores of beautiful Lake Okeechobee, with expected lows tomorrow morning to be in the mid to upper 30's. Pretty large turnaround in temperatures. The high for Tuesday is only predicted to be approximately 57*, and then temperatures are expected to climb back into the high 70's-low 80's into the coming weekend. Crazy weather!

Same here for the total change. Was 50 something here yesterday, almost "nice", 1.6 right now. 50+ degree drops in less than 24 hours is impressive.

How close to Marco Island? I love that place!

-13 in Lima, OH and wind chill is 38 below. If one has not experienced this type of cold, I do not recommend it. Exposed skin goes kinda numb after about 5 minutes of exposure.

Oh, any polar bears yet? They're not as mean tempered as tOSU fans but they can still be bad. ;)

I'm about an hour and a half from Marco, depending on traffic and the time of day. The closer you get to Ft. Myers, and depending on how many "snow buzzards" are out and about, could be more, could be less. And yes, Marco is nice. Wish I had to money to be able to reside there, hurricane seasons notwithstanding.
