Dish vs. the local NBC affiliate

I currently do not get NBC. The message on the screen says Media General is demanding an increase of 3 times more than Dish's competitors and refuses to extend the current agreement. I'm OK with that. I'm sure there's more to the story and that ultimately something will get worked out but I appreciate the efforts Dish makes to keep my rates the same as they have been since I began using their service.

Down here it is with CBS stations..depending on which side you listen to neither is truthful :). Here dish claims it is 5X increase.

Dish went thru the same thing here with Fox Sports. We lost the channel for about a week before they came to terms

Here's the thing: If you live close enough to the viewing area you can get the broadcast for free so why would you hold a provider hostage? I don't watch their local stuff anyway and can watch the network shows on-line. I would imagine advertisers would be upset over this.
