I was thinking of the Trio sessions; Linda, Emmylou, Dolly.

Prayers for her.

Big loss for us all.

Poor, poor, pitiful we.

(Thanks to Tim Sullivan for that one.)

Horrible news. She got me through a lot of midnight shifts back in the day.

Feel really badly for her, to have taken away something that is obviously so dear to her.

I'll admit that I'm not a massive fan simply b/c my musical tastes are more centered on punk and hard rock/southern rock, but I have a great admiration for her talent and a huge soft spot in my heart for some of the classic 70s soft rock songs. Among them is "You're no Good" and "Poor Poor Pitiful Me". Take me back to a much simpler and oft happier time riding in the backs of pickups and the biggest crisis was someone took the last orange ice pop. The older I get the more I miss a world without cell phones where I could go out and ride around the farm on a dirt bike or go shoot cans with a 22.

I always thought, even when that much younger, that she needed better producers who would give her songs that would be more of a challenge for her ability. She could clearly sing any style, she covered a bunch of songs, has one of those truly amazing voices that was effortless. I think she could have been an even bigger star, but I'm not sure she really wanted all the overhead that would come with being a stadium act. Just my casual observation but she seemed to be happy singing and doing her thing.

Her version of "I will always love you" was so much better than Whitney Houston's. she rocked hard in the SoCal rock scene.

Wonder if all that coke had anything to do with it?

Linda was in the background in a lot of the activities of my youth, very sad news.
