I am betting many of us are not surprised at this revelation.

Study done by the Cato Institute, reported by FoxNews (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/21/study-in-most-states-welfare-pays-more-than-minimum-wage-job/)

Been a big discussion on this on another board.

One thing of note, the comparison is take home pay of a teacher and does not include benefits like pensions, insurance, etc. Also, its not an indictment of teachers pay.
The article notes that its the total one could get if on welfare and takes part in ALL the programs. Few qualify for that

However, it does illustrate that welfare encourages folk to not find work. When you can make nearly as much or more doing nothing as somebody who works a job, there is nothing to incentifies you to work. I'm fine with helping folks in need or who have fallen on bad times. No problem with that but its not suppose to be a method to support you forever.

And there aren't any pesky drug tests either.
