“It was a perjurious affidavit,” Dershowitz tells me, and that comes with serious consequences: “Submitting a false affidavit is grounds for disbarment.”

I hope the legal establishment in FL is looking into such an action as I type

(Reuters) - A former employee of Florida State Attorney Angela Corey's office plans to file a whistleblower lawsuit against George Zimmerman's prosecutors, his attorney told Reuters on Tuesday.

The action will put pressure on Corey, who already faces criticism from some legal experts for the unsuccessful prosecution of the case, which led to the acquittal of Zimmerman for shooting unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman's defense has also called for sanctions against her and her prosecution team.

Ben Kruidbos, Corey's former director of information technology, was fired after testifying at a pre-trial hearing on June 6 that prosecutors failed to turn over potentially embarrassing evidence extracted from Martin's cell phone to the defense, as required by evidence-sharing laws.

Might want to edit the title. She wasn't the Judge.

He's the one that may get her cooked. He testified about withholding of evidence esp. from Martin's phone, and it fits with the defense's experience. For example they requested a pic off his phone, it took like 2 months (going on memory) to get it and what they got was black and white. The problem is no phone on earth takes black and white photos by default, so they asked for the color one and got one that had been retouched, it took more months and trips to the judge but they finally got the original jepg they requested. That ties right in with what this guy is saying, that dozens if not 100s of pages of dumped data were not handed over.

If he can make this stick, and now that he's been fired he has no reason to hold back, she can get nailed and not just sidestep her behavior in this case.

Interesting that that anything less than 1st degree murder doesn't require a grand jury in Florida. An affidavit to the judge is all that is necessary to induce a prosecution. Just wow....

Citizen, speaking of the criminal justice system (OK, going way off on a tangent here LOL,) did you see that our ex-teammate won a 6th Circuit reversal of his client's conviction in a KY vote buying case? (published opinion, came out yesterday I think.)

Yes; but when charges are brought by information there is a preliminary hearing to determine probable cause to bind the defendant over for trial. The defense can cross-examine prosecution witnesses and the judge makes the determination. Grand jury's are prosecutor's shows. Not sure about state, but federal grand juries true bill (indict) 99.6% of the time.

Do you think a Grand Jury would have went forward on charges against Zimmerman? No way, no how....
