“I think the jury made the right decision based on the evidence presented, because the prosecution inadvertently set the standard so high that the jury had to be convinced that it was a deliberate act by Zimmerman that he was not at all defending himself, and so forth,” Carter told Atlanta news channel WXIA (http://www.11alive.com/news/article/299139/40/Former-Pres-Jimmy-Carter-speaks-on-Zimmerman-acquittal-). “It’s not a moral question, it’s a legal question and the American law requires that the jury listens to the evidence presented.”

This explanation escapes people throwing a fit about the verdict. They do not understand, by choice or simple ignorance, how the American justice system works. People did the same thing when Casey Anthony was acquitted.

I just applaud him for saying it. Now, as for foreign or economic policy....

That may be the most lucid, correct thought he has expressed in public in many years.

This is one of the very few things Carter has said that is even remotely close to being correct since, oh, about 1976 or so..........

Personally I've always believed in the existence of the killer rabbit, that was 78 or 79. ;)

I agree with Carter on this. It was the correct verdict based on the evidence presented.

Now he needs to shut up and get back to building houses.
