Supposedly it was proof read. No one ever read it out loud before it was broadcast.

Unbelievable. I clicked on the video and watched it, and I thought the newscaster would crack up laughing after the 2nd name--it appeared (to me) she had caught on that the names were fake by then. Evidently not.

Wow.

The airline isn't happy, is threatening legal action. Even NTSB had to apologize as an intern there confirmed the names as correct. lol.

"The reputation and image of our company has been damaged by this false publication" said Asiana Airlines Legal Spokesperson Me Soo Yew.

I like this because local news organizations are categorically awful and it makes me feel good when they get **** like this pulled on them.

so apparently the new network is going after the source. So your own failure to fact check leads you looking like an idiot and your response it so sue the source?

link to CNN story (http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/14/travel/asiana-offensive-names/index.html) (fox story already linked)

Thanks Doc. that story at least addressed where the names originated, which apparently we just dont' know right now. It did say the NTSB person didn't create them. Can't wait to find out who did it, if we ever find out. No doubt they would prefer to remain anonymous given the stink that has erupted.

Asiana plans to sue due to their "harmed" reputation

http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/14/travel/asiana-offensive-names/index.html

Their pilots crashing the plane had nothing to do with it........smh

Agree. IMO when you set up for a landing for a 4000 foot runway but the runway is only 3000 feet, that certainly is more damaging to your reputation than hiring a pilot named Sum Ding Wog. However, those names are "racist"

I'm thinking their reputation took the hit a bit earlier. It wasn't the fake names but the crash that did it.
